1. The service

MailguardAI-247 provides Email Threat Detection & Response (ETDR) for consumer and small-business mailboxes. We connect to Gmail or Microsoft 365 via OAuth, or to other providers via IMAP using an app password you supply. ETDR coordinates Message Risk (Safe / Suspicious / Dangerous screening and mailbox stamp actions), Account Risk (mailbox takeover signals such as forwarding, rules, MFA posture where available, and sign-in alerts), and Fraud Risk (business-email-compromise style patterns on eligible plans).

You primarily act on flagged mail in your mailbox via the MailguardAI banner (Allow / Trust, Block, Not safe?). The Trust Center is your ETDR console — Account Protection, Audit Trail, Insights, Trust Registry, and an optional Monitor exception queue — not a required step to release every held message.

Optional features include Mailguard Companion (in-client explanations), Mailguard Advisor (interactive guidance), SafeView link previews, provider-side verdict folders, and a Trust Registry for senders you approve.

2. Eligibility and accounts

• You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract.
• You sign in through our identity provider (Auth0) using Google or Microsoft. Your sign-in email is your account identifier.
• You are responsible for activity under your account and for maintaining access to connected mailboxes.
• You may only connect mailboxes you are authorized to manage.

3. Mailbox access and screening

Connecting a mailbox grants MailguardAI permission to read, label, move, stamp, or delete messages only as needed to provide ETDR screening, quarantine or verdict-folder routing, journaling, Account/Fraud risk checks where entitled, and actions you request. Scope varies by provider and plan; you may need to reconnect after we add permissions. IMAP connections use an app password you create with your email provider—not your primary account password.

Screening applies from your enrollment date forward unless you choose an optional spam/junk cleanup for recent mail. We do not perform unlimited historical AI scans of your entire mailbox.

4. AI analysis

You separately consent to automated ETDR security screening, including analysis by Anthropic Claude Haiku when risk signals warrant deeper review. AI output supports Message Risk decisions, explanations, Companion, and Advisor only—not advertising or unrelated profiling.

AI classifications and risk scores are probabilistic. MailguardAI is a decision-support tool, not a guarantee that all threats will be detected or that all safe mail will pass.

5. Quarterly phishing drills (optional)

If you opt in, MailguardAI may deliver controlled phishing simulations to your Trust Center about once per quarter. All opted-in users receive the same training scenario that quarter. Simulations are designed to look realistic but are not sent to third parties for advertising.

We record whether you click drill links or release a drill message to your inbox solely to provide security education (pass/fail feedback and optional quizzes). You may opt out anytime in Profile; opting out does not affect core ETDR mailbox screening.

6. Plans, trials, and billing

• Free, Core, Pro, and Elite tiers are described on our website and in-product plan catalog. Message Risk screening scales by plan; Account Protection is available on Pro and Elite; Fraud Risk depth is available on Elite. Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe unless otherwise stated at checkout.
• Eligible new subscribers may activate one 7-day paid-plan trial without a payment card. The trial does not renew or charge automatically. Unless you affirmatively subscribe to a paid plan, paid entitlements end after day 7 and the account returns to Free.
• Trial accounts receive the selected plan's normal features and daily screening allowance; the trial does not provide unlimited classification.
• When a trial expires, paid-only classification and features stop. Existing classifications, Audit Trail records, connected mailboxes, folders, labels, settings, and prior actions at the email provider remain and are not automatically deleted or reversed.
• Advisor Plus is an optional add-on for Pro or Elite with separate usage quotas.
• High-Volume Protection is an optional add-on for paid plans that increases your daily message screening allowance (+10,000 messages per day per pack).
• Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. You may cancel renewal in Stripe or through Profile billing controls.

7. Fair use

To keep the service reliable for all users, we may apply rate limits, daily screening caps on Free tier, paid-tier daily ingest allowances, Advisor quotas, and abuse safeguards. When a paid plan's daily screening allowance is exceeded, MailGuard continues pre-filter protections (block lists, threat feeds, heuristics) but may skip full AI classification until the quota resets at midnight UTC or a High-Volume Protection add-on is active. Attempts to circumvent limits, resell access without authorization, or use the service to distribute malware or spam may result in suspension.

8. Data retention

Screened messages and analysis metadata are journaled for up to three (3) days for compliance and your review, then permanently deleted from our systems unless a longer period is required by law or you export data first. Account and Fraud risk summaries may be retained with your account settings for ongoing ETDR posture.

9. Acceptable use

• Do not use MailguardAI to violate law, infringe others’ rights, or probe our infrastructure.
• Do not attempt to extract model weights, reverse engineer proprietary detection logic, or interfere with other users.
• Enterprise enrollment and custom routing may be subject to separate agreements.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

We are not liable for mail loss, delayed delivery, false positives or negatives, or actions you take based on AI or ETDR guidance. Your mail provider remains responsible for mailbox availability.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MAILGUARDAI AND ITS SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

12. Termination

You may disconnect mailboxes and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms, non-payment, or risk to the platform. Upon termination, connected integrations stop and retained data is deleted per our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by a new consent version in onboarding or account settings. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
